A small shop, and a very personal wish
I want the things I choose and make for orangekoko to help someone feel remembered. That is the thread connecting every piece of jewelry and every greeting card in this shop.
The beauty I want to share
What draws me to Japanese handmade work is often a small detail: a shape that recalls a petal, a gentle colour, or an unexpected touch of playfulness. These objects carry a way of noticing the world, with room for seasons, plants and everyday discoveries.
Many wonderful creations remain close to their makers, sold mainly within Japan. I wanted to open a way for people in Europe to encounter this work too, and to find gifts that feel considered, distinctive and full of character.
What I look for when choosing a piece
The jewelry collection is made by independent artisans in Japan. I choose with attention to materials, design and finish, looking for pieces that are charming without overwhelming the person wearing them. I want a little detail to bring joy to an outfit and remain lovely on a closer look.
I also value the attitude behind the work: the seriousness of doing something well, the patience to refine a detail, and respect for the person who will eventually wear it. This is what the spirit of shokunin means to me. It shapes how I think about selecting pieces worthy of a meaningful gift.
The part I make with my own hands
The greeting cards are my own handmade work. Alongside choosing jewelry, I wanted to create a place for the words that belong with a gift. Paper, texture and small visual details can make a handwritten message feel even more personal.
You might choose a card to accompany a necklace, or simply send one to say that someone has been on your mind. A card leaves room for your own voice, whether the occasion is a celebration, a thank-you or a little encouragement on an ordinary day.
A gift with someone in mind
I imagine a person opening a present and recognising the thought behind it. That thought might come from a detail that suits them, a remembered conversation or a few handwritten lines. A gift becomes special through the care of the person choosing it.
